Dental Emergency Appointments

When you or a loved one experience a dental emergency, time is of the essence. Make sure you contact us right away for the needed emergency dental treatment. Some actions you take can help stabilize your condition before arriving at our practice.

A knocked-out tooth's reattachment is only possible within an hour of injury. Return the tooth to its socket, if possible, or place it in a container without touching the root. Bring it with you to our office. If you have a broken or cracked tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water and use a cold compress to reduce swelling.

A severe toothache can be a sign of infection, which can be potentially serious. Infections often cause abscesses, which are pimple-like bumps that appear on the gum. Over-the-counter pain medications can help, but make sure to avoid placing them directly on the tooth to prevent damage to the gum tissue.

Over-the-counter dental cement can temporarily hold a lost crown in place or replace a missing filling until we repair it. Make sure you never use super glue to hold your restoration in place. Other dental emergencies include loose teeth or injuries to tongue, cheeks, or gums. Call our office for care instructions until you come in to see us.
